What is a No Contact Order?

If your partner has been arrested, a No Contact Order may be put in place by the criminal justice system to ensure your safety. No Contact Orders prohibit the offender from contacting the victim. If you are contacted, report this to law enforcement. No Contact Orders may vary in time. If you would like the order extended, contact court services or the court.

What is a Domestic Violence Protection Order?

An alternative is to file for a Domestic Violence Protection Order. This is a legal document that will restrict contact in person, by telephone in writing and through a third party. Neither the offender nor the victim will be able to make contact. Filing for a DVO is free. An Advocate can help you fill out this paperwork. Any person who violates the Domestic Violence Protection Order may be cited or arrested.
