Our Programs : Youth & Family Services : Parents As teachers
Babies are born to learn…
And Parents are their first teachers.
Parents As Teachers is for all families.

Studies have found:

  • In their first few years, children learn more and at a much faster pace than at any other time in their lives.
  • When using Parents As Teachers, children improve in problem solving, and social skills.
  • Parents are more confident in their parenting skills and knowledge, and reading more to their kids after parent education.
  • Parents stay involved in their child’s education both at school and home after parent education.
  • Children benefit when problems in development, hearing and vision are detected early and prevent later difficulties in school.

Parent Educators believe:

  • Children learn the most form the people they love – their parents.
  • Parents are the experts on their own children. All families have strengths and can use this information to make the best choices for their children.

The Program Offers:

  • Personal Visits
    • Parent Educators help you understand what to expect as your child grows and develops and suggest activities to encourage learning.
  • Group Meetings
    • Parents As Teachers have monthly meetings for informational presentations, sharing ideas and experiences with other parents. Parent and child activities are included.
  • Screenings
    • Parents As Teachers offers screening of overall development including health, hearing and vision.
  • Resource Network
    • Parents As Teachers help families find other community services that can meet their needs.

Best of all….

Parent Educators help parents make the most of their child’s early years, encouraging development and working together to find ways to make life a little sless stressful while having a great time in the place your child is most comfortable – their home.
